My workout week #44

This week’s workouts
Monday: Rest day /30 minutes walk, regular tempo
Tuesday: 45 minutes Barre
Wednesday: 1 hour yoga
Thursday: 45 minutes strength training at Adidas
Friday: 45 minutes yoga
Saturday: Rest day / 1 hour power walk
Sunday: Rest day /1 hour walk, regular tempo

This week’s workout buddy
Me, myself and I. Really miss having a workout buddy or two. But been walking a lot with the dog this weekend, does that count?!

dallas_me.jpg

This week’s best workout
Without doubt Thursdays circuit training at Adidas. Felt so good and felt I found a good balance between pushing myself and listening to my body.

This week’s best workout song
Salt-N-Pepa - Push it

This week’s setback
Had planned interval running today, but slept next to nothing, in addition to having a semi-sore throat, so didn’t wanna risk it. But not sure I would qualify that as a set back, just life happening!

This week’s highlight
Both my yoga classes, but the one on Friday in particular. Nothing like warming up and stretching the whole body while sore from a strength class. Also helped me get rid of a headache, thank you very much.

This week’s reflection
Never eat right before a class. Felt those spoons of oatmeal halfway up my throat at the end of the class there. Not to be recommended. All kidding aside, this weeks reflection was a lot of thinking around my reason why. Why do I work out? What motivates me? More about that another time, too many thoughts running through my head at the moment.

A weekend of absolutely nothing

This weekend I have been home doing…nothing. Just relaxing, charging my batteries for my first day at my new job on Tuesday. All in the company of the black little troll Dallas.

dallas01.jpg

Been going for walks, reading and drinking a glass of wine, watching Netflix and eating a little too much food. Guess the only super productive thing I did was finishing off my major clean out for the upcoming flea market. Let´s just say there are some treasures for sale. Found myself really sad to part with some of the items, but when you have not worn it the last year or two, it gotta go.

What have you guys been up to this weekend?

The Workout Routine Circuit x Adidas Creator Studio

I think I am a little in love with Adidas Creator Studio, because it´s now the second time in just a few days I found myself there.

This time I joined my friend Charlotte Beijer´s circuit training. I was a bit nervous, seeing as last time I joined a strength class like that I fainted… But I focused on listening to my body, and on doing it right instead of keeping up the tempo. Also, Charlotte is a very observant trainer so she guided me very well, even though we were 10 people there.

Gotta give a hight five to her! Such a talented lady and makes working out to something FUN! If you´re ever in town, go give her visit. She also has running classes and bootcamps. Something for everyone.

After 4 days with both cardio, strength and yoga, I am taking tomorrow off. Big plans on enjoying my veggie taco and have a hot date with Netflix! Aaaaah, weekend vibes people!

Who ever said no to hotel breakfast?

Early this morning I snuck out the door and met Mo at Clarion Hotel Amaranten at Kungsholmen to host a yoga class. The hotel has a campaign going on at the moment where they gift 15 SEK per person to UNICEF for each 30 minutes their employees add movement to their day. So Mo led us through a class, while I packed some lovely goodie bags sponsored by Better You and Yogi Tea.

Afterwards they thanked us and asked if we would wanna enjoy a breakfast at the hotel before heading off. The joy in our faces kinda gave them their answer, and we ran off to the buffe like two children in a toy store at Christmas.

 Excitement on a high level!

Afterwards I had a meeting with Helena, and right now I am so comfortable in Armanten´s lounge, with my cup of coffee, so I think I will try to get some work done before heading home.

Wish you all a wonderful FriYAY!

When you have someone to share it with

After work I headed off to Haymarket for this months Best of You team meeting. Since we are so many in the team working mostly alone, I created this as a time for us to meet, talk about what is on our agendas, ask questions, brainstorm and be inspired. All of us work on their own and nothing is like meeting likeminded and fuel the inspiration tank from time to time.

Today it was Helena, Christine and me and we talked about what we are working on at the moment, plans ahead and I shared a little more about something I want to do on Best of You, but don´t really dear to share at the moment. Was so nice to get some input and some wise words from my two wonderful colleagues.

  Love this place

I love these meetings, because sometimes you just need some outside perspective and talk about all the ideas and stuff going on in your head.

Gotta run, off to Adidas for a strength class with the best Charlotte Beijer, before I am heading home to create goodie bags for tomorrows Yoga for Charity class.

Rolling out my mat

First off; thank you so much for all your lovely best wishes on my new job adventure! So grateful <3

Today, I started my day bright and early on the mat at Nordic Wellness. When I woke up my body begged to stay in bed, but I managed to get going. But it wasn’t until about 15 minutes into the class I actually managed to focus, tune inwards and forget my bed! Guess some mornings are harder than others. Let´s just say; the hot shower and warm cup of coffee when I got home was priceless.

The body benefits from movement, the mind benefits from stillness. Yoga brings me both.

It´s no secret that yoga is a big part of my life, and even though I lack the motivation sometimes, I never regretted time spent on the mat (like I most certainly can do after gym class, haha)!

Now I am off for a lunch date at Mahalo and organising some stuff for a “yoga for charity” class Best of You is hosting on Friday, before coming home to my warm apartment and my new favorite book. Kinda love those evenings under a blanket, reading. Been so long since I read each night, does me so good.

Wish you all a wonderful day!

Hello Great Britain

So, guess what? Today I was at the British Embassy to sign my new contract as Marketing & Communication Executive for Visit Britain NO. Wow, just writing this makes me a bit dazzled! I am beyond excited and feel this is the beginning of a new chapter in my life.

Best picture to describe my level of happiness right now

Best picture to describe my level of happiness right now

Lots have changed for me over the last year, working on both my baby Best of You, as much as I have on myself, and I now feel ready for a new challenge and a new experience.

Let new adventures begin!

And worry not, Best of You is not going anywhere. I will just be focusing all my energy during the day on generating tourism from Norway to the UK, and save Best of You to after work hours and weekends <3

My workout week #43

Finally back in the game and thought it would be fun to share my workout weeks with you guys, since they were a hit when I did it in the beginning of the year.

Been a good week where I have gotten my four workouts in, and some additional power walks. Prefer to walk every day, but it´s getting seriously cold and dark in this city so I feel a tad limited. But, lets take a look:

This week’s workouts
Monday: Rest day
Tuesday: 30 minutes power walk
Wednesday: 45 minutes Barre
Thursday: Rest day
Friday: 1 hour with interval running + strength training
Saturday: 55 min yoga
Sunday: 35 minutes intervals + 1 hour power walk

Morning class with Catja Divjak at Adidas

This week’s workout buddy
Ulrika and I teamed up both on Fridays session at Clarion Hotel Sign and the yoga class at Adidas. Super fun to finally have some company and the fact that she has the FitnessCollection app too is just perfect!

This week’s best workout
All of them to be honest, because I needed them all. But if I would have to choose I would say todays interval session on the treadmill. So badly needed to sweet a little and I managed to push myself to go a little faster! Who knows, maybe I get back to run once a week again.

This week’s best workout song
I honestly don´t have ANY good songs to listen too while working out so please leave me some tips in the comment field below!

This week’s setback
My muscles were still pretty sore and after my failed bootcamp experience, so Barre was a challenge. Had trouble stretching my upper body and breath properly, but hopefully it will go better the upcoming week.

Fresh air and a good podcast made my power walk on Tuesday

Fresh air and a good podcast made my power walk on Tuesday

This week’s highlight
Getting up and fighting the cold to get to yoga on Saturday morning. And all the greens I have managed to get in before and after a workout, through smoothies and juices.

This week’s reflection
There is no doubt that listening to the body is important, and I have finally started to ‘tune more in’. The balance between knowing when you have had enough and when to keep pushing yourself is hard to find, but important to be able to maintain a good health.

What weekends are for

Weekends for me is all about getting stuff done in a slow pace before a new week starts, and this weekend is no exception! Been strolling around town getting some much needed stuff for the apartment and myself (read microwave and new sports bras haha) and now some work needs to be done in terms of photo editing, answering emails and create event invites. In other words; lots of fun.

But first, time for this weeks last workout, followed by a stroll in fresh air. Vital for the head to function you know.

In love with my new green camera bag I got for my birthday

I love spending the weekends, because even though I have stuff that needs to be done, I can do it in my own pace and divide it in-between workouts, drinks and movie-nights. Happy Sunday y´all, hope you enjoy it!

Come as you are leave as a star

//Ambassador collaboration with FitnessCollection

After a few morning meetings yesterday, I met up with my friend Ulrika at Selma City Spa at Clarion Hotel Sign. We had booked 180 minutes workout/spa through FitnessCollection. Our motivation when we met wasn’t exactly on top, but we managed to get into our workout gear and head on down to the gym on the 2nd floor.

When I asked Ulrika what she had planned and she answered running 1 mile on the treadmill, my reaction was hilarious to say the least!

selma2.jpg

So, in other words I did NOT run a mile (I hate running), but I ran 35 minutes intervals. For some reason I like that, as long as I just get started. Made me keen on adding 1 interval a week to my gym plan. Anyone have any good intervals to share?

Afterwards I did a few strengt exercises. Love the gym at Clarion, because it´s not pretty big, but it got all you need to get a good workout in for the whole body.

selma3.jpg

Afterwards, when it was time to reward our hard work with an hour at the spa, Ulrika had to run. I looked at her like she just told me the production of chocolate just had stopped. Haloooo lady, the whole reason I went there (kidding… or not, hihi). But since I hadn’t brought a book and I was pretty hungry I headed home too. We booked in the same thing next week instead, at another location.

FitnessCollection has such a wide range of different types of training, and the possibility to combine that with a spa every once in a while is the cherry on top! Interested in giving it a try? Get 20% off the 3 first months by using the discount code: bestofyou.

More honesty please

Yesterday I came home from work, collapsed on the sofa while enjoying my favorite food: chocolate. All the while scrolling through Instagram. Which made me post the following:

“I’m on my couch, stuffing my face with chocolate, all the while scrolling through a world of perfect bodies, a world of social lives and fancy jobs, a world full of fun and social activities. And I can’t help but feel like a failure. Lazy. Undisciplined. Friendless. Even though I know I AM NOT! Pretty fucked up, right? Wish we all could be a bit more human on Instagram sometimes. Because unicorns are tired too, right?”

instagram.jpg

And the comments I got in return made me so damn happy. And sad. Because why do we only portray that one very shiny part of our lives (myself included) all the time? I would LOVE to see an image of your Ben&Jerry ice cream for lunch, or that you eat dessert in bed. Or that you skip the gym to watch Netflix. More honesty, more reality!

Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean I dont wanna see pictures from the gym, or tons of green smoothies or other fun stuff. I just miss the balance sometimes. Because the truth is that the majority of Instagram users filter their lives (again, myself included, even though I try to change that).

Not really sure where I am going with this blog post other than that life has two sides, ups and downs, high and lows, and maybe it is about time we create a more balanced feed.
